St Andrews Beach

Located in The Cups region of the Mornington Peninsula and metres from the thundering surf of Gunnamatta Beach, St Andrews Beach Golf Course originally opened as an exclusive members course and debuted as the 9th best course in Australia in 2006. It is built on a stunning piece of land that lends itself perfectly to the tradition of the famous links courses of Britain and Ireland and can be compared favourably with the courses in Melbourne’s famous sand belt region.
Internationally renowned golf course architect, Tom Doak is the designer of this classic 18-hole links style course and his aim was to create one of the best golf courses in the world.

Moonah Links

Moonah Links is considered one of Australia’s most unique leisure resorts combining two 18-hole championship golf courses. With panoramic views from raised tees, shared greens and a host of other unique features this course will fast become a must play for all serious golfers. Australian Top 25 Course.
The Legends Course stands as a tribute to past champions who have contributed to the rich history of Australian golf. In contrast to the Open Course, which was purpose built to challenge the modern champion, the Legends Course will be a friendlier golfing experience for players of all ages and abilities. The course is a loop of 18 holes that generally follow the valleys through a variety of landscapes ranging from ancient Moonah woodlands to open links land. The fairways are generous and the putting surfaces gentle, but the bunkering style is bold and wild in appearance. At 6,315 metres, the course should be fun, but it won’t be a pushover.

Rosebud Country Club – 2 courses North and South

Rosebud Country Club offers visitors access to two 18-hole golf courses. Both offer a contrasting experience the North course is framed by large pine trees, while the South Course boasts wide fairways and large greens. Rosebud Country Club is pleased to offer a complete practice range experience. Enjoy the 220m Driving Range along with chipping greens, putting greens, and practice bunker. Some may find the South Course fractionally easier, though there is little to separate the two and both thrill first-time visitors with their golfing challenge and immaculate appearance. Any club is only as good as its golf course and Rosebud Country Club is extremely fortunate that it has two real gems that will delight everyone from the experienced golf professional to the casual player.

Eagle Ridge

Eagle Ridge is an 18-hole, championship course in the heart of the Mornington Peninsula, Australia’s premier golf region. The landscape is known locally as “the Cups” and features sand-based hilly terrain common to links golf. Consistently rated amongst the best public access courses in Victoria, Eagle Ridge surprises newcomers with its spectacular surrounds. The heavily featured and landscaped layout offers a unique challenge and a fair test of golf, and keeps players coming back for more. Designed to cater for all handicaps, the course rewards accuracy and offers all golfers a great day out. Watch for Eagle Ridge’s superb par 3 holes, each offering a different take on short-hole design.

Cape Schanck

Play in the heart of the Cape’s rugged landscape on the 18-hole course at RACV Cape Schanck Resort. Designed by renowned golf course architect Robert Trent Jones Jr, year-round playability ensures you can experience the Cape in all its dramatic seasons. The 18-hole course at RACV Cape Schanck Resort is highly regarded, not just for its appeal to both the occasional golfer and the serious player, but also for its magnificent setting at the southernmost tip of the Mornington Peninsula. With excellent drainage and superbly manicured greens and fairways, the course provides excellent year-round playing conditions. The resort course features huge greens, large open bunkers tree lined fairways and spectacular ocean views on eleven holes.

The coastal town of Rye is a popular holiday destination nestled between Tootgarook and Blairgowrie. Point Nepean Road is Rye’s main thoroughfare, running parallel to Rye’s main beach on the coast of Port Phillip. This beach offers safe sandy, family friendly beaches that are ideal for swimming and boating.

The main concentration of shops is located east of Dundas Street and includes a hotel, eateries, a major supermarket and other retailers.

Rye also has an impressive ocean beach on the Bass Strait coastline, with magnificent walks along the clifftops that form part of the 25-kilometre Coastal Walk through the magnificent Mornington Peninsula National Park that protects this beautiful yet fragile coastline. This is also ‘The Cups’ golf region, where sand dunes provide naturally contoured challenges and the sandy soils drain quickly for good year-round play. The multi award winning Peninsula Hot Springs is nearby and is Victoria’s only geo-thermal hot springs.

Point Nepean National Park
Point Nepean is one of Victoria’s most beautiful natural landscapes. A special place with so much to see and discover. Its rich history has played an important role in shaping the early settlement, quarantine and defence of Victoria.
The park is located at the very tip of the Mornington Peninsula, with outstanding coastal scenery and panoramic views of Bass Strait, the Rip and Port Phillip Bay. Visitors can explore the military forts and tunnels, discover the historic Quarantine Station, view the memorial where Prime Minister Harold Holt went missing and enjoy the coastal native trees and grasses which are ideal habitat for many native Australian wildlife.

Main Street Mornington – Shopping
Imagine this. A whole kilometre of cosmopolitan boutique shopping, with more than 370 retail outlets to explore. The pavements are broad and tree-shaded, with inviting courtyards, verandahs and kerbside seating for an espresso or glass of fine regional wine. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly, and there’s not a high rise building in sight. And right at the end of the street is the sparkling sea.

Head to the beach
Roll out your towel on the golden shores of Port Phillip Bay. The long, wide bay beaches at Frankston are ideal for swimming, snorkelling and yachting. Small bays are dotted between Mount Eliza and Mornington, while a series of safe, sandy bay beaches can be found around Mount Martha. Colourful bathing boxes huddle along the foreshore between Mount Martha, Dromana, Rosebud and Portsea, and have become an attraction in their own right. At the back beaches – on the open waters of the Bass Strait – you can tackle the swells generated by the strong westerly winds known as the Roaring Forties. Hit the surf at ocean beaches such as Point Leo, Flinders, Portsea and Sorrento, or if you’re just starting out, book a lesson with Salty Surf School.

The Mornington Peninsula is home to more than 50 cellar doors. Pinot noir and chardonnay are the region’s specialties, however shiraz, pinot gris and pinot grigio are beginning to share the spotlight. Ten Minutes by Tractor is an estate of three vineyards – separated by a 10-minute tractor ride – each with unique qualities and character expressed in its variety of wines. Sample a selection of their acclaimed wines at the intimate cellar door. You can order a carefully designed wine flight – five wines based around a theme – from small-batch winemaker Crittenden Wine Centre, or blend your own bubbly at Foxeys Hangout.
