Pebble Beach Spa
If you’ve had enough from spending the day on the green try the local spa for a relaxing massage, unwind in the Jacuzzi or sauna or participate in a cleansing ceremony inspired by the native Esselen people.
17 Mile Drive
Not quite Route 66, but on the Monterey Peninsula 17 Mile Drive is a popular scenic drive that takes you past some of the most magnificent scenery in California. Not only is it the only way into Pebble Beach, it also takes you past the most magnificent golf courses including Spanish Bay, Spyglass Hill and Pebble Beach Golf Links. The route takes up to 2 hours to complete depending on the amount of stops you make.
Bird Rock
One of the most impressive stops along 17 Mile Drive is Bird Rock. Imagine 180 odd species all flocking around on a gigantic rock, from gulls to pelicans and shearwaters.
Equestrian Centre
Opened in 1924 Pebble Beach Stables has a longstanding tradition. Discover more than 30 miles of trails across white beaches, magnificent sand dunes and the lush Del Monte Forest. You can take lessons in dressage or jumping or simply enjoy a little adventure on horseback.
Monterey
Pebble Beach is situated on the Monterey Peninsula surrounded by Monterey, Pacific Grove and Carmel, so day trips to either town are worthwhile. The Monterey Bay Aquarium is one of the top holiday attractions in the US for families with a living kelp forest, touch pools and an outdoor tide pool. If you’re after something more spectacular, Monterey is one of the best places in the world to go whale watching.
Carmel
Another town along the Pacific Coast Highway is Carmel which offers some fantastic restaurants, fairy-tale cottages and boutique shops and cafes. Indulge yourself on a shopping trip through town or explore the numerous art galleries around. Nature lovers can enjoy some spectacular views at Point Lobos State Reserve. Hiking trails along the park and its rocky shorelines make for some dramatic pictures. You can also go for a dive as half the reserve is under water.
Pacific Grove
There’s no better place to experience some midnight romance than at Lovers Point. It is here you can watch a rare West Coast sunrise in the early morning hours. “America’ Last Hometown” as Pacific Grove is sometimes called, also houses some of the most impressive Victorian homes.
Mission Ranch
Sunday brunch at this charismatic restaurant in Carmel is a favourite with locals and tourists alike. Owned by Hollywood star Clint Eastwood, the food is delicious, the service outstanding and views of the Pacific Ocean and the surrounding wilderness simply stunning.
